GET INVOLVED!
There are so many ways that you can get involved with the work we do as CUCAN and UTM.
Depending on your skills, interests and time available, there are options for everyone!
Volunteer with CUCAN
CUCAN Core Team
The Core Team meets every couple of months. Some members just attend the meetings where their input on ideas and decisions is very welcome. Others do a little more, such as manage social media accounts, get involved in projects, take minutes etc.
All input is valuable and welcome and so if you would like to get involved please get in touch. We'd particularly love to see some younger members (teens or young adults) to offer some new perspectives.
Repair Cafes
Repair cafes occur quarterly and are usually held on sunday afternoons for 2 hours. We have several repair stations focussing on different items, such as textiles, tool sharpening, general repairs etc.
We like to have a list of repairers to contact so that we're not always relying on the same people, so if you have a skill to offer please get in touch. We are particularly short of textile repairers so if you're handy with a needle then please consider having a go!
Current Projects
If you are practical and like to get your hands dirty, we have a couple of ongoing projects where some extra help would enable us to do even more. For example, constructing the compost area on Coaely Rec or helping the Coaley Rec Action Group with their hedge and tree planting.
Please get in touch if you'd like to help us with some or these or similar projects.
New Projects
Over the years we've had lots of ideas about projects that we would love to do but don't have enough people to make them happen. You can find some examples here.
If you feel that you might like to be involved or even run one of these projects, please get in touch. Also, if you have any ideas for projects that might fit with CUCAN's Purpose, message us and we can meet to discuss it.
Volunteer with UTM
Uley Trees and Meadows have lots of nature-based, outdoor projects on the go. These include tree and hedge planting and creating and managing wildflower meadows. Members are notified of upcoming sessions and they sign up if they are free to help on that day.
Get in touch if you would like to join UTM and help improve biodivesity in Uley.
Are you a Coaley Resident?
Would you like to help us create a COALEY TREES & MEADOWS group so that we can repeat the amazing work that UTM are doing in Uley?
It would be amazing if we could plant more trees, create meadows and wildlife corridors in Coaley and map our progress. Eventually we might even be able to create a wildlife corridor that stretches, uninterrupted, across the two villages!
